In the very heart of Helsinki just behind Forum Shopping Center, Ateljee Bar on top of Sokos Torni Hotel has a breathtaking 360-degree view of downtown Helsinki and its surroundings. The bar itself is quite small, but there are two terraces on either side which are perfect for photo-ops.
Pro tip! Visit the restrooms. The ladies’ room, especially, probably has one of the best views of any restroom in the world.
Stockmann Roof is a new addition (opened just a couple weeks ago) to the well-known downtown department store, operated by Ravintola Teatteri. If you have a Stockmann Card, bring it! They’re currently offering bottles of Prosecco for 29€ for customers with loyalty cards.
The views here are not as great as others on the list, but the atmosphere is made special with a live DJ and a sun deck for catching some rays in the afternoon.
Opened in Fall 2016, Clarion Hotel Helsinki’s 16th floor is home to one of the most spectacular views of Helsinki from Jätkäsaari. It is now the second tallest hotel in all of Finland, just behind Sokos Hotel Torni in Tampere. If you’re a guest at the hotel, you also get to enjoy the rooftop pool and sauna (on my list!). In addition to the usual suspects, Sky Room has a menu with special cocktails named after neighborhoods and landmarks in the area as well as a spritzer with their own house-made aperitif called Capitano Kippis.
Pro tip! I recommend going on a week day or earlier in the evening as it fills up quite fast. If you can time it to catch the sunset, even better (though that might be difficult to do this time of year!).
Just across the street from the main railway station, Raviontola Loiste is on the top floor Sokos Hotel Vaakuna. From here you can see over Kamppi, down Mannerheimintie, and – of course – a great view of the railway station.
It’s the perfect place to soak up some sun and after work specials, and probably my favorite outdoor rooftop bar.
